Notes
- The MESA 10-Year CHD Risk Calculator uses a Cox proportional hazards model derived from the Multi-Ethnic Study of Atherosclerosis cohort.
- CHD events include myocardial infarction, resuscitated cardiac arrest, CHD death, and angina followed by revascularization.
- The CAC score provides incremental prognostic value beyond traditional risk factors. A CAC of 0 is associated with very low short-term event rates.
- Validated for ages 45-85 in White, Chinese American, African American, and Hispanic populations.
- Risk categories: Low (<7.5%), Borderline/Intermediate (7.5-20%), High (>20%).
